The Rise of Chat Bots in Enterprise Mobile Application Development

“Greetings, Professor Falken.“ That’s the opening line in a conversation between computer “Joshua” and its inventor, Dr. Stephen Falken, in the 1983 hit movie “War Games. ” In the movie, artificial intelligence is used to enable man-to-machine conversation. Thirty-four years later, conversational interfaces are becoming a reality in mobile computing, ready to be the next big thing in consumer and enterprise mobile application development. Paired with artificial intelligence, chatbots help to simplify the mobile communication between users and services. As in human conversation, well-chosen wordings allow users to book a table in a restaurant, arrange a taxi to the airport, buy an airline ticket, and more. This presentation explores developer’s perspective on chatbots.
