Title
New Image Operations in JavaFX
Description
JavaFX frees developers from the micromanagement of pixels through its rich environment, which provides high-level control over the appearance of a variety of graphical objects and media. Still, sometimes it is hard to avoid the necessity for the direct control that comes from rolling up your sleeves and digging into the pixels. This session focuses on two new mechanisms in JavaFX 2.2 that help developers turn node trees into images and read and modify the pixels of those images. Intended uses include generating screen shots or scene thumbnails, customizing image media, and providing custom pixel effects not already available with the rich set of built-in effect objects.
