Title
Java Analytical Models and Big Data: End User Programming in Spreadsheets
Description
Spreadsheets are popular for building analytical models in financial services and industry. Their unique advantages include short turnaround time, dynamic execution, integrated testing and debugging, and minimum need for UI design and coding. Enabling users to work with virtually all Java APIs, analytical libraries, and visualization tools in the spreadsheet environment results in a powerful end user programming tool for rapid prototyping, development, and deployment of Java-based analytical models and apps. This presentation demonstrates this and shows how complex financial models, machine learning, and MapReduce algorithms can be quickly assembled in a spreadsheet and deployed to the Amazon EC2 cloud and to other deployment paths.
