JSR 310: What's Taking So Long?

This BOF focuses on JSR 310, the ThreeTen reference implementation, and the upcoming integration of ThreeTen, the new date/time library, into Java 8. The primary goal of the session is to discuss the details and complexities of developing an API that can support users of an ISO-standard calendar system that can be extended to support more-complex calendars. Several implementation strategies were explored before the final strategy was selected. The session is an opportunity for attendees to discuss the strategies and what design decisions went into the final API. It also covers how the new API integrates with the previously available libraries.
