Title

A Java-Powered FIRST Robot

Description

Presented by the coach of a FIRST robotics team, this session describes how team 1519, Mechanical Mayhem, used Java to program both its robot and image processing software for the 2012 season. This year's game is a derivative of basketball using 8-inch foam balls. After briefly describing the robot, the presentation describes the architecture and implementation of the Java code. It also shows closed-loop control of the ball shooter, capable of making baskets from 25 feet away, and examines the implementation of the vision processing code for this year's game.
