    Description

Welcome, brave souls. You've stumbled upon the threshold to the Backrooms - a realm that exists just beyond the confines of reality, lurking in the shadows of our unconscious minds. In this 3ds Max tutorial, we uncover how to create our very own Backrooms, step by step. We begin our journey by creating all of the architectural geometry, and progress to materials and lighting. Toward the end of the tutorial, we use the CamTrackAR app to capture our smart phone's movement, and export the animated camera back into 3ds Max. This app is perfect for camera tracking, especially for the hand-held camcorder effect that we want for exploring our backroom. Lastly, we cover some simple post-processing effects using Premiere Pro, to make our animation look real, creepy, and immersive.

My main inspiration for this tutorial was Kane Pixels Backrooms videos. Check out his awesome channel here:

Below are some products that I use and love, especially when I'm making 3D art and stuff. Check these out:

🎤 The microphone I use is the Blue Yeti, and after using dozens of microphones in the past, I can confirm this mic is the absolute best for recording your voice during videos and streaming. It’s incredibly easy to set up, literally plug-and-play. There’s a dial on the back that lets you switch for different recording styles, in case you want to record everything in a room, or just your voice. Check it out here:

🎧 When I’m working at my computer, or on the train, or walking around Brooklyn, I almost always have these buds in my ears. The Beats Studio Buds are by far the best wireless headphones I’ve ever used. My wife got these for me as a gift, and they’re so good, I replaced my Apple earbuds with them. The noise canceling feature is awesome for the train, the battery life lasts crazy long durations, and they don’t stick out of your ears and make you look like a dork like other earbuds do. Definitely recommended:

⌨️ The keyboard I use is the Razer Pro Type Ultra wireless mechanical keyboard. It feels sooooo good crushing through code and making 3D models with this keyboard. You can connect up to 4 devices and switch easily between them, and it has fully programmable keys. It’s definitely my favorite keyboard I’ve ever had. Check it out here:
