    Scribblenauts is a 2008 puzzle platforming game for the Nintendo DS and the first game in the Scribblenauts series. You play as Maxwell, who has a magical notepad that can summon almost anything he writes into it, from zombies to thunder clouds. This notepad is the key gameplay mechanic the game revolves around. Maxwell's goal is to collect Starites, which are found by solving various puzzles and helping people out with his magical notepad.

    hydrideGS ( https://tasvideos.org/Users/Profile/hydrideGS ) in this movie gives a demonstration on how such a game with so many possibilities wasn't playtested as thoroughly by crashing it multiple times. Many of these crashes come from glitches that are simple to perform and are very possible to do accidentally.

    00:00:02.000 --> 00:00:07.300
    Scribblenauts is... not a very complete game, to say the least.

    00:00:07.325 --> 00:00:12.030
    In fact, it feels like a late beta version at most.

    00:00:12.030 --> 00:00:17.037
    Ten game-crashing glitches will be used in this speedrun.

    00:00:17.061 --> 00:00:22.025
    None of them require starting a main challenge campaign.

    00:00:22.025 --> 00:00:26.544
    In the game are several memes from the time. One of which is the Rick Roll.

    00:00:26.569 --> 00:00:31.716
    He normally disappears after a few seconds, but not while you're dragging him directly.

    00:00:31.741 --> 00:00:37.067
    Drop some Magic onto him to encase him in a huge block of ice, then start dragging that.

    00:00:37.092 --> 00:00:40.812
    When he disappears, the game will crash.

    00:00:41.651 --> 00:00:46.651
    I hope you like this little tune, because you'll be hearing it a lot!

    00:00:56.024 --> 00:01:02.066
    This next one is extremely simple; put stilts on a mannequin and the game will crash.

    00:01:02.091 --> 00:01:08.682
    Don't ask me how they missed this. One of the puzzle levels is even about decorating a mannequin.

    00:01:08.707 --> 00:01:11.733
    You'd think they'd do more testing...

    00:01:24.005 --> 00:01:27.047
    Something a bit more involved, now.

    00:01:27.072 --> 00:01:34.143
    Using a love bow on a hostile creature that you can ride on top of will essentially "tame" it, making it friendly.

    00:01:34.168 --> 00:01:41.303
    Now use a teleporter or time machine while still riding that creature, and the game will freeze on a black screen.

    00:01:57.034 --> 00:02:02.152
    Welcome back! Did you miss me? This next glitch involves riding animals again.

    00:02:02.177 --> 00:02:06.764
    Place a saddle on an untamed, hostile animal, then start riding it.

    00:02:06.789 --> 00:02:11.546
    By the way, you'll be hearing that little sound effect a lot too.

    00:02:11.571 --> 00:02:16.128
    Have the animal get into a fight with another creature that can defeat it.

    00:02:16.162 --> 00:02:20.901
    Stay on the animal while it dies, and you got yourself another game crash.

    00:02:21.483 --> 00:02:26.725
    I hate how so much of this run is just... dead air. In terms of gameplay, at least.

    00:02:26.759 --> 00:02:31.277
    You need to watch these credits in full every time the game starts.

    00:02:31.302 --> 00:02:35.057
    Considering how the game's code keeps coding (medically,)

    00:02:35.082 --> 00:02:39.898
    you're likely to run into crashes during casual play too. Isn't that fun?

    00:02:41.044 --> 00:02:47.012
    Oh, look, a vending machine! I wonder what we can get?

    00:02:47.012 --> 00:02:51.290
    THIS COLA IS AN ILLUSION AND IS A TRAP DEVISUT BY DOPPELGANGER.

    00:02:51.315 --> 00:02:54.360
    GO AHEAD DAUNTLESSLY! MAKE RAPID PROGRES!

    00:02:54.385 --> 00:03:00.160
    The vending machine is also known for a trick involving bringing a Starite directly to you.

    00:03:00.185 --> 00:03:05.695
    In case you don't want to suffer through the 110 uninspired, boring action levels.

    00:03:10.012 --> 00:03:13.892
    In this glitch, we see Maxwell trying to re-animate a dead body.

    00:03:13.917 --> 00:03:19.154
    In doing so, the entire universe collapses in on itself. In other words, the game crashes.

    00:03:19.179 --> 00:03:23.911
    I'm going to guess that Herbert West wouldn't have liked this game an awful lot.

    00:03:23.936 --> 00:03:27.754
    This is such a hard thing to miss, though! How does this happen?

    00:03:27.779 --> 00:03:32.894
    There's even a puzzle level in the game where you have to re-animate a corpse yourself!

    00:03:33.370 --> 00:03:37.673
    And now for a glitch involving everyone's favourite Bleach character!

    00:03:37.698 --> 00:03:40.951
    Yes, the "Leek Spin" meme is in this game too!

    00:03:40.976 --> 00:03:45.217
    Simply create the "Loituma Girl," then drop some Earth Magic onto her.

    00:03:45.242 --> 00:03:49.986
    The Gods will take offence to this and promptly expunge you from existence.

    00:03:50.011 --> 00:03:55.045
    Maybe they shouldn't be such poor sports about it. It'd make things a lot easier.

    00:03:59.998 --> 00:04:05.488
    This one left me so dumbfounded that not even I could tell you what the hell happened here.

    00:04:05.513 --> 00:04:08.767
    As it turns out, Boomerangs can go through walls.

    00:04:08.792 --> 00:04:12.303
    While it's being thrown, pick it up with your stylus.

    00:04:12.328 --> 00:04:16.571
    It will enter a permanent state of rigor mortis and refuse to move.

    00:04:16.596 --> 00:04:20.857
    Trying to use some rope to bring it along is a bad idea, it turns out.

    00:04:20.882 --> 00:04:24.125
    I guess this is one boomerang that never returned.

    00:04:27.011 --> 00:04:32.992
    Here's another that involves a corpse. If you make indirect contact with one using a melee weapon,

    00:04:33.017 --> 00:04:37.568
    its soul will tell on you and the Gods will once again not be happy.

    00:04:37.593 --> 00:04:42.616
    A quick and easy way of doing this is through a sword glued to a car.

    00:04:42.641 --> 00:04:49.072
    You don't even need to be going relatively fast. Just a paper cut is enough to crash the entire game.

    00:04:52.007 --> 00:04:59.028
    In hindsight, that was probably not the best spot to hit it, no pun intended. Poor guy.

    00:05:05.012 --> 00:05:09.348
    I hope you've enjoyed this video and the ludicrous glitches being showcased.

    00:05:09.373 --> 00:05:14.876
    To wrap things up, here's a consistent glitch that's so simple that even a toddler could do it.

    00:05:14.901 --> 00:05:18.092
    In fact, you could do it on accident without realising.

    00:05:18.117 --> 00:05:21.539
    What is this glitch that's so easy to activate by accident?

    00:05:21.564 --> 00:05:27.003
    Well... If you miss tapping a button in the Ollar Store menu, that's enough to crash the game.

    00:05:27.028 --> 00:05:30.122
