    Description

    One of the main features of Kodi is the ability to extend it with add-ons. These can range from skins, screensavers, visualisation, PVR to scripts and plugins. All this is great and gives great possibilities however it also gives a potential security risk as these add-ons may have access to your personal files as well without you knowing it. Every add-on that has been added to the official Kodi repository has been reviewed to a certain extend that it will not cause harm to your system or unknowingly shares you personal information to outsiders. When you as user wants to install add-ons outside of the Kodi repository that's of course your right and responsibility.
    With this new change in v17 we added a security waring when a users tries to manual install a zip file with either a new repository or a single add-on. Hopefully with this warning we give users the awareness of any risks they get their selves into and should carefully consider instead of blindly following online guides and videos.

    00:03:49.080 --> 00:03:51.470 align:start position:0%
    anymore because if you go to install
    from<00:03:49.280><c> zip</c><00:03:49.560><c> file</c><00:03:49.799><c> you</c><00:03:49.920><c> don't</c><00:03:50.120><c> get</c><00:03:50.280><c> the</c><00:03:50.439><c> popup</c>

    00:03:51.470 --> 00:03:51.480 align:start position:0%
    from zip file you don't get the popup

    00:03:51.480 --> 00:03:54.429 align:start position:0%
    from zip file you don't get the popup
    anymore<00:03:52.480><c> this</c><00:03:52.720><c> option</c><00:03:53.040><c> can</c><00:03:53.200><c> be</c><00:03:53.400><c> found</c><00:03:53.799><c> in</c><00:03:53.959><c> the</c>

    00:03:54.429 --> 00:03:54.439 align:start position:0%
    anymore this option can be found in the

    00:03:54.439 --> 00:03:56.429 align:start position:0%
    anymore this option can be found in the
    Cod<00:03:54.879><c> settings</c>

    00:03:56.429 --> 00:03:56.439 align:start position:0%
    Cod settings

    00:03:56.439 --> 00:03:58.710 align:start position:0%
    Cod settings
    so<00:03:57.439><c> click</c>

    00:03:58.710 --> 00:03:58.720 align:start position:0%
    so click

    00:03:58.720 --> 00:04:01.550 align:start position:0%
    so click
    here<00:03:59.799><c> then</c><00:03:59.920><c> we</c><00:04:00.040><c> go</c><00:04:00.159><c> to</c><00:04:00.439><c> system</c>

    00:04:01.550 --> 00:04:01.560 align:start position:0%
    here then we go to system

    00:04:01.560 --> 00:04:03.069 align:start position:0%
    here then we go to system
    settings

    00:04:03.069 --> 00:04:03.079 align:start position:0%
    settings

    00:04:03.079 --> 00:04:06.550 align:start position:0%
    settings
    add-ons<00:04:04.079><c> and</c><00:04:04.239><c> here</c><00:04:04.400><c> we</c><00:04:04.599><c> have</c><00:04:04.840><c> unknown</c><00:04:05.560><c> sources</c>

    00:04:06.550 --> 00:04:06.560 align:start position:0%
    add-ons and here we have unknown sources

    00:04:06.560 --> 00:04:08.350 align:start position:0%
    add-ons and here we have unknown sources
    so<00:04:06.799><c> once</c><00:04:06.959><c> you</c><00:04:07.159><c> installed</c><00:04:07.599><c> the</c><00:04:07.760><c> zip</c><00:04:08.000><c> file</c><00:04:08.239><c> you</c>

    00:04:08.350 --> 00:04:08.360 align:start position:0%
    so once you installed the zip file you

    00:04:08.360 --> 00:04:10.630 align:start position:0%
    so once you installed the zip file you
    can<00:04:08.519><c> disable</c><00:04:08.959><c> it</c><00:04:09.200><c> again</c><00:04:10.120><c> because</c><00:04:10.319><c> now</c><00:04:10.480><c> you</c>

    00:04:10.630 --> 00:04:10.640 align:start position:0%
    can disable it again because now you

    00:04:10.640 --> 00:04:13.030 align:start position:0%
    can disable it again because now you
