Ghosts 'n Goblins (1986) (known in Japanese as 魔界村 Makaimura, "Demon World Village") begins with a normal scene: a half-naked knight is on a date in a graveyard with a princess. Suddenly, a demon appears and abducts the princess! The knight quickly suits up and makes rapid progres (sic) through the demon world in an attempt to rescue his royal girlfriend.

This run of the original arcade game completes the first cycle in 6 minutes and 27.17 seconds. We also have a run of the NES port ( https://tasvideos.org/3173M ), but the game engines are so different that a comparison between the two times doesn't make any sense. Reaching the end credits requires a second run-through of the game which would be identical to the first run-through; this is omitted in this run.
